The Manx pound is the currency of the Isle of Man, in parity with the pound sterling. The Manx pound is divided into 100 pence. Government notes and coins, denominated in pounds and pence, are issued by the Isle of Man Government.
Opening an account:
The banks on the Isle of Man has procedures concerning the opening of accounts, irrespective of the domicile of the customer. In line with International laws governing “due diligence” the bank must verify the identity of the customer potentially on the account of an official document (e.g. a passport and confirmation of residential address).
Automated Cash Machines are available throughout the Island’s towns and all will give out Manx bank notes with the exception of the ATMs at the Sea Terminal and the Airport which dispense UK Sterling currency. There are banks located throughout central Douglas and smaller branches located in the main towns around the Island.
