January…… is normally cold, gray and miserable, but not in Cayman, it’s bright and sunny here! But it doesn’t take away from the fact that Christmas is a distant memory, and you are now left with a bigger waist line and you’re skint from all the shopping and celebrations that happen over the festive season.
However, it’s not all bad as January is the start of the new year and a new beginning for many of us and a chance to think about those New Year’s resolutions! Resolutions tend not to last very long, so here are some tips to help you stay motivated:
Use your phone:
There are many apps you can download to motivate you and spur you on to achieve your goals or help you become more organized and focused. Such as: Fabulous – Motivate Me!; Productivity Challenge Timer; Wonderful Day; Coach.me
Set yourself small goals:
Instead of trying to tackle a big project, set realistic short-term goals that will lead to long term success. In the office, we have a term ‘eat your frog’ – so if there is something you have to do, but don’t necessarily want to do, or something that you are dreading doing – it’s best to ‘eat your frog’ and do it first, so that it’s done and out of the way and not hanging over your head all day long!
Have something to look forward to:
This is a great way to beat the January blues – have something planned that you look forward to. It doesn’t have to be a trip away (although that’s always lovely), it could be a night out with friends, buying a new pair of shoes (if you have any money left), going to the cinema, or a perfect night at home with dinner and a movie. Having things to do that make you happy, will help.
Most of us overindulge over the holiday’s and are all keen to do dry January. Have you ever thought about doing dry February? It’s a shorter month 😊
