Welcome to March! There is always something happening here on this beautiful island and this month is no exception. March is “Honouring Women” Month here in Cayman and there is plenty going on!
The Family Resource Centre is helping put a focus on women who are making things happen by organizing several events to raise awareness, and celebrate them.
A large highlight of the events is the International Women’s Day event on Sunday 8th March, where participants can take part in a vision board which will be designed to motivate and inspire women.
Additionally 2 films have been made by filmmaker Pascal Pernix. The first is Girls Voice, a film dedicated to girls sharing their struggles and giving insight into what teens face each day. The second film, Beautiful Struggle is focused on interviewing young mothers who have had their children before the age of 24.
The “Colour Me Purple” run, is also scheduled for Sunday the 22nd March. This 5km walk/ run is a fun day out for everyone- the aim is to wear as much purple as possible- with a purple colour bomb at the end! It’s only CI$15 for registration and all proceeds support empowerment programs for women and youth in the community.
